The York Youth Symphony Orchestra, a 501(C)(3) organization, receives some financial support from the Cultural Alliance of York County. However, we rely mainly on contributions from family and friends, loyal supporters like you, for the large majority of our annual budget.
Each year, volunteers mail out hundreds of fundraising letters to parents, family members, music instructors, community leaders and past contributors. This year our goal is to raise $15,000. With your help we can reach this goal. If you'd like to become a contributor, please send your tax deductible contribution to:
York Youth Symphony Orchestra P.O. Box 3224 York, PA 17402-0224
Thank You.
A Message from Our President:
Hello Friends,
Our young people want to be a part of something positive, something good—all they need is a little support. Here is your opportunity to help provide that support.
I’m asking you to lend your financial support to the York Youth Symphony and help us change lives by creating something positive and good that can be shared with the entire Greater York community. Music programs have proved time and again to exert a positive influence on people of all ages, particularly young people. It provides discipline, increases self-esteem and opens their eyes to a broader view of the world around them. The talented young musicians in our organization will become part of the foundation that will help shape the future of the Greater York area. Help them to create a positive future.
Each year our programs help between 75 to 85 students in our area to achieve their goal of becoming better musicians, better performers and better people. Your financial contribution will help to support programs like: Summer Music Camp Scholarships, Rehearsal and Concert Venue Space, New Equipment and Instrument Purchases, Securing a Talented Conductor and Rehearsal Manager, plus so much more.
The York Youth Symphony Orchestra is comprised of high school age students representing 21 schools in the Greater York area. This season they will perform three full-length public concerts and allow our orchestra members to share their special gift of music to young and old throughout the York area.Last season, all of our graduating seniors went on to pursue higher education in a collegiate setting with over 65% pursuing music in a curriculum and almost all of them to retain their ties to music in a performance setting. They will be making positive contributions to the arts and to the community.
We cannot continue to offer this musical opportunity to our young musicians without your financial support. I am confident YOUR contribution will help us reach our goal of raising $15,000 this season. Please consider increasing your gift contribution by 20% this year. Your name and general gift-category will be listed in our concert programs, as well as on our website.
It is because of the generous financial support of people like YOU, that the YYSO has continued to thrive for fifty-three years as a vital part of the cultural life of our community. You are our most important source of assistance and our biggest fan, that is why I invite you to attend one or all of our 2010-2011 concerts. Come see and hear how your money has been used to create something positively GREAT!
On behalf of the YYSO board and the entire orchestra, I would like to say thank you for your support.
Sincerely yours,
Martin Philip, President York Youth Symphony Orchestra
