2026-2027 Audition Information
Audition Date: Saturday, August 29, 2026

Getting Ready:
1. Complete your audition registration/time slot selection here. Complete the Google Form, and the Submission page will provide you with the Time To Sign Up Link.
2. Prepare for the audition. See this page which outlines in details the necessary material/requirements. In short summary:

a 3-4 minute excerpt from a solo/etude, etc. of your choice (something that shows you at your best)

Auditions for the YYSO are open to all string, wind, brass, and percussion students in grades 9-12. All current and former members of the YYSO, students attending public, private, cyber, and charter schools, homeschooled students, and any college students are encouraged to audition for a player position in the orchestra.
Members of the YYSO must be active and in good standing with their school’s music organizations. In cases where extenuating circumstances prevent student artists from being active in their school’s ensembles, a written letter of permission to be a member of the YYSO must be obtained from the school orchestra director (or band director if school does not have an orchestral program). In the event that a student and their school director are not able to resolve this issue, the YYSO conductor should be contacted and the matter will be addressed by the YYSO conductor with the school conductor.
Members of the YYSO are also expected to take private music lessons. Extenuating circumstances should be communicated to the YYSO conductor, but please note that very few exceptions are granted.
The YYSO rehearses on Saturday mornings from 8:30-11:00am from September-May at Central York HS. Concert dates for 2026-2027 (subject to change): 11/14/26, 3/14/27, 5/8/27. There are no rehearsals from Thanksgiving to New Year's. By completing the audition process, you acknowledge that you are available for the concert dates and are available for regular rehearsal attendance throughout the season. Any issues with this must be communicated to the Music Director prior to auditioning.
