VIDEO: Meet our conductor and his energetic taste to music education. As well as our cumulation of York and Adams County's talented young musicians.
Message from Mr. B
I am very excited to be leading the York Youth Symphony Orchestra into their 2019-2020 season! After spending last year in an interim capacity, I am thrilled to be at the helm as the permanent Music Director/Conductor of this fabulous ensemble. Last year’s ensemble totaled over 100 students and tackled literature such as Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Russian Easter Overture and other great standards from the orchestral canon, as well as an infusion from the modern realm.
2020 marks the 250th birthday of Beethoven, and like seemingly every other orchestra in the world, we will also be paying homage to perhaps the greatest “game-changer” composer in Western music. This year’s selections will span nearly all 250 of those birthday years, with the final concert of the year featuring 20th-century standards and “can’t miss” modernism.
I am so proud to be a part of this organization, and the legacy of students that have made their way through our ensemble. As we venture into a new season, the YYSO looks to collaborate with others, respond to our community’s desires, and convincingly perform literature of the highest level with the finest youth musicians from York, Adams and beyond!
